Empowering Rural Youth and Communities Across Europe

SOS – Should I Stay or Should I Go? – is a European initiative that empowers young people living in rural and remote areas to actively participate in shaping the future of their communities.

The project explores migration experiences, local opportunities, and the challenges faced by rural youth.
Through participatory research, storytelling, and community engagement, SOS supports young people in developing skills, sharing their perspectives, and contributing to solutions that strengthen rural territories across Europe.

Our Vision

A Europe Where Rural Youth Can Thrive

SOS envisions a Europe where young people living in rural and remote areas have the opportunities, skills, and support they need to build their future within their communities.
By strengthening youth participation, community engagement, and local storytelling, the project seeks to highlight the value of rural territories and ensure that young people’s voices are heard in discussions about the future of Europe.

Project Ambition | Empowering Youth and Revitalising Rural Territories

The SOS project aims to contribute to reversing rural depopulation by empowering young people to become active protagonists in their communities. Through innovative participatory methodologies and collaborative activities, the project encourages young people to analyse migration dynamics, share local stories, and develop proposals that can contribute to the sustainable development of rural areas.
